On May 10, the Flagstaff Yeti MTB Team hosted our spring Community Trail Day at Fort Tuthill County Park. Forty volunteers — including 22 youth riders, parents, and community members — came together to restore and improve two miles of beloved singletrack.
What We Accomplished
- Rebuilt three drainage features to prevent erosion during monsoon season
- Cleared overgrown brush from 1.5 miles of corridor
- Installed two new wooden bridges over seasonal creek crossings
- Removed illegal social trails that were causing habitat damage
Thank You
Special thanks to James Okonkwo and our trail stewardship crew for leading the work, and to the Coconino County Parks department for providing tools and guidance. Local business Mountain Bike Supply donated gloves and snacks for all volunteers.
Trail stewardship isn't just about maintenance — it's about teaching our riders that the trails they love require care and commitment. Every youth rider who participated earned community service hours and, more importantly, a deeper connection to the land.
Our next trail day is scheduled for July 19. Contact us to volunteer — no experience necessary!
